Kasey Kahne is currently the hottest driver in NASCAR. Kahne won his ninth career race, driving away from the field after the last restart to win at Pocono on Sunday.
It wasn't easy for Kahne who had to come from the back after a pit miscue. But the race at Pocono is long. It is said to be one long race and if you heard Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s interview after the race, you know it was one long hot day.
But the heat probably didn't feel too bad for Kahne because he won the race.
While he is moving up in the points, Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart were two who took big hits. Stewart took the worse hit as he was caught for speeding and had to go one lap down. Stewart hasn't had a good finish in a while. He almost won at Charlotte but had a tire go bad with two laps left and then he got in a wreck at Dover.
With the speeding penalty at Pocono, Stewart is now in 12th place. There's still plenty of time for Stewart to get hot and jump back in the points, but there is also plenty of time for other drivers to work their way into the top 12 also.
Drivers like Matt Kenseth (who has never failed to make the Chase) and Ryan Newman.
Kyle Busch had a wild weekend that saw him race in the truck series in Texas on Friday, the Nationwide Series in Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday before racing at Pocono on Sunday. The second place finish in the trucks was as good as it would get.
Busch got into some trouble Saturday morning when he wrecked his first car and had to pull out the backup one. That didn't work either as he finished 43rd. But he is still the leader in points.
TNT, who took over the coverage from FOX, did a pretty good job I thought for their first time back since last summer. We'll see how they'll do next week when the circuit rolls into Michigan.
