Fireworks and rivals after Bristol

I promised fireworks at the end of the Bristol race and that's what we got. And maybe, a rivalry which is something NASCAR has needed this year.
Carl Edwards nudged Kyle Busch to take the lead and held on to get his second win in a row. After the race, Busch slammed into Edwards and Edwards spun Busch out. Busch was called to the NASCAR trailer and Edwards went to victory lane. It seems that Edwards has the hot hand now after beating Busch in back-to-back weeks. And while both drivers had been saying nice things about each other, the gloves may be off after Bristol. And really, that's what NASCAR needs.
I'll be honest, the last couple of weeks have been the Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch show. What we needed was for both of them to start taking jabs and talking bad about each other. Since they are the only two drivers winning lately, why not have them in a feud.
The most disappointing thing about this season is the fact that only two cars - Edwards and Busch - seem to be at the top week in and week out. Are you telling me they are the best two drivers on the circuit. The other teams look like they've taken a step back or two. No one else seems to be able to challenge either Busch or Edwards. The only other driver who seems to be able to do so is Jimmie Johnson. The two-time Cup Champion had a bad night at Bristol. But Bristol isn't his best track, so watch out from here on in. This is the time of year when he comes to the front a lot.
But what about the rest of the drivers. They don't seem to be able to hang with Busch or Edwards. Even Busch's and Edward's teammates don't seem to be able to get up there and challenge for a win. That has to be frustrating for them.
Jeff Gordon, who loves Bristol, was never really a threat to get his first win of the season. The only time he led was when Edwards was held up in lap traffic. You can't tell me Gordon is that bad?
Tony Stewart, another former cup champion who has yet to win this season, had a good car at one time. But like Gordon, he could never get up to the front. Kevin Harvick, who also has not won a race this season, was said to of had a good car.
Maybe the teams of the 18 and 99 have something figured out that nobody else does. And while both drivers believe there will be more than just them competing for the title, a lot of us are gearing up for a two-man duel for the 2008 Chase.
