Busch had to rally to win
Say what you want about Kyle Busch but the young driver is hot.
Busch went from the front to the back when he had pit road problems and still had time to get back to front to win the race at Darlington last Saturday. I know a lot of NASCAR fans are still mad at Busch who will enter the Coca-Cola 600 as the Sprint Cup points leader. A lot of the fans at Darlington showed it by booing him when he was introduced and when he won.
Busch won his third race and kind of made it seem easy. Either the other teams are struggling or Busch and his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota team are really clicking.
I, for one, think he's good for the sport. He seems to be keeping people talking. He does drive on the edge and sometimes does things out of control. That's his style. He'll win some fans and he's going to lose some also. Let's face it, he had one strike against him when he came to Sprint because a lot of fans didn't like his brother Kurt Busch. Kurt ruffled the waters in his first couple of seasons in the Cup Series. He's settled down a little now and I'm sure the same will happen with Kyle eventually. Tony Stewart was the same way when he came up. Maybe the two of them will talk.
Besides Busch, Carl Edwards seemed to be the only other car to keep up with the points leader. I take that back, Greg Biffle had a real good car until something broke in it. It was shaping up to be a good battle between Busch and Biffle. That would have been fun to watch.
Speaking of fun, the Cup series is back on next Saturday in Charlotte for the All-Star Race. This will be a non-points race where the drivers are trying to win one thing: money. Those who have won a race since the last All-Star race, or those who have won the race within the last few of years, are automatically in the big race. The first race of the night determines the one driver who gets one of the two remaining spots in the big race.
The fans then vote the driver they want to see in the race for the final position. It's a fun night of racing and there is usually plenty of action.
The Cup series will swing back into points racing May 25 in the Coca-Cola 600. The race, which is held the same day as the Indianapolis 500, will start in the evening and end at night. It is really the perfect end to a great racing day.
