Wake Me Up During the Race

I don't know what the deal was but I couldn't stay awake for Sunday's race. Maybe I stayed up too late the night before watching the Olympics. For some reason though, Sunday's race at Michigan just wasn't exciting.
That doesn't mean there wasn't any news. Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon all had issues during the race, dropping them all in the standings. It seems strange to see Gordon struggling. It seemed like he was locked into the chase a few months ago. Now he's on the bubble. The only drivers from Hendricks locked in are Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Kyle Busch is so far the only driver locked into the Chase. Though it wouldn't be a surprise to see Carl Edwards make cement his spot in the next couple of races. It's beginning to look like the Chase could be a showdown between Busch and Edwards. But don't forget about two-time defending champion Johnson.
With Bristol coming up next Saturday, a lot of drivers could be eliminated from the Chase while some might make a jump into the top 12. And the good thing about Bristol, it hopefully won't cause me to go to sleep early.
