The only person not bored with Sunday's race was Jimmie Johnson and his fans. Johnson dominated the race at California to clinch his spot in the Chase. I pretty much knew he was going to be in it anyway.
Personally, I'm glad, and I hope, this is the last time California has the race on Labor Day weekend. It starts too late on the east coast. And for those who do have to get up and work on Labor Day, it's not fun to have to turn off the tube and go to bed before the race is over. Of course, last night didn't matter.
I went to sleep 40 laps before the race ended. I was going to be shocked if Johnson wasn't the winner. Like I said Friday, Johnson is a contender for his third-straight Cup title. To do that, he has to get hot now in order to keep up with Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards. Instead of a two-man fight for the title, maybe Johnson just shoved his name into the pot.
